Hidden Heart


I think showing affection and love for others should be something we all do everyday. Yes, Valentine's Day is muted to be for couples, but I've never bought into that and have never (whether in a relationship or not) really celebrated. I love telling the people in my life that I adore them whatever the day, but being that it was Valentine's Day a few days ago, it allowed me an excuse to wear the prettiest red dress by Lovedrobe for Simply Be.

I wore this to take a little trip to Nottingham to see my dear friend Charlotte. I hadn't seen her since November so was super excited to see her, and thankfully, the weather stayed dry for lots of exploring around the city. We had a yummy meal when I arrived, then we jumped on bus to do some window shopping and research for Charlottes MA. I'm really looking forward to seeing her collection and if she does half of what she has in mind, it's going to be absolutely amazing. I'm so proud of her and can't wait to walk around London in an original Apple Charlotte design. But before then, I'll have to find beautiful garments from elsewhere and this Lovedrobe dress is certainly that. There isn't anything I don't love about this dress. The length is perfect on my 5'1" frame and falls just below my knees. The structure is a lovely fit and flare 50s design with a few pleats at the bottom of the waistband, the neckline is my favourite kind, AND it has sparkle. The real gem though is the cutest heart-shaped cut-out on the back. It's still incredibly nippy but I braved the cold to shuffle my cardigan down just enough to show it off - I seriously couldn't have snapped this dress up fast enough!

I finished the look off with my H&M burgundy cardigan, a simple pair of black tights from Boots, and old flats from Dorothy Perkins. Such a cute outfit on any day, but even more so to celebrate Valentine's Day.

    That dress is lovely, I really like the cut-out. I'm from Finland and here Valentine's Day is actually a celebration of friendship and love, not just a "romantic" holiday. :)

Like Royalty

The plus-size world of the vintage persuasions audibly exclaimed when Georgina Horne of Fuller Figure Fuller Bust , announced a range of fabulous dresses she had designed for  Lady Vintage London , called Lady Voluptuous . There are four styles in total with a variety of colours and patterns, and being a 50s bunny who practically lives in swing dresses, I immediately set eyes on the Cosette , particularly after seeing Lucia in it. When a photo shoot is about more than just the pictures

There have been a few things that have made the last year and a bit, difficult. I have a life mantra: keep the legs pumping. This has been my life philosophy for as long as I can remember and it’s what has kept my head above water at the worst times. I am well aware that anything I might be going through is nothing in comparison to some others, so I have always tried to suppress whatever has been going on, believing that my “trivialities” were not worth worrying about or bugging other people with.
