Geek Tweet

Hi guys! I hope you’re all well and enjoying this sudden sunshine we are experiencing of late.

I had a four day weekend to enjoy and on Friday, I met up with the lovely Charlotte and we heading to one of our favourite places to go – Shoredtich. I love the street art there and I always seem to find somewhere new to explore and find other wonders. It was thankfully a dry day so we took the opportunity to take some outfit pictures next to some cool art.
This dress is from Simply Be and I love it. If you read my Dress in Bloom post, I talked about putting a load of items into my virtual shopping bag before stripping it back to my favourites, and this was another of those items. It’s the print and the scooped hem that does it for me, the birds are such gorgeously bright colours against the darkness of the blue, and it works so well. I had this outfit in mind for summer but I think this looks great with a pair of leggings and ankle boots.

Boots: Boohoo
The other thing I love about this dress is how incredibly well it fits my waist. I have bemoaned countless times about how frustrating it is for me to find dresses that fit my small waist, but this dress fits like a glove. It hugs my waist really well while still allowing just enough room for my relatively large bust.
Great for my waist and a close up of the lovely print

It was such a fun day and Charlotte as you can see can take a fine picture. I’m thrilled with these and look forward to many more adventures with her.

‘til next time.

Blanket of Flowers

Plus Size ranges are getting better and better which is such great news for us ladies who love fabulous clothes. When New Look got in touch with me about showcasing an item from their new Inspire Spring/Summer range, I didn't hesitate and chose this ‘screams summer’ dress to show off in. It is so bright and colourful, with red being the base and a shower of gorgeous flowers on top, it’s ideal for sunshine and the sun was shining bright on the day I wore this.
Cardigan & Leggings: South (via Very)
Belt: Blogger Marketplace
Shoes: Primark
Sunglasses: Spitalfields Market

I didn’t want to darken the dress at all so instead of my usual black leggings I went for a chocolate brown, and I was a little surprised at just how well it worked. I also chose a light sand cardigan and a simple but cute pink belt to complete the look.

No outfit is totally complete without a bag and this is the best bag ever! I saw this in Paperchase (my addition to Paperchase is not helped by there being a massive store right by my work!) and grabbed it immediately. When the weather gets warmer I hate carrying around big bulky bags and always venture out with a tote or shopper bag instead; plus you can always find such great, colourful designs to perfectly match your outfit.
Bag: Paperchase *Meow*
The dress is so light and airy which is again perfect for this time of year and the elasticated waist makes the dress so comfy to wear. Another great thing is the Peter Pan collar, I adore dresses with a Peter Pan collar, it gives a cute vintage look and is such a lovely accent on the dress.

Seriously, go and take a look at the Spring/Summer range at New Look. You’ll struggle not to find something you’ll absolutely fall in love with.

‘til next time!

Dress In Bloom

I ordered this dress on the very night I received the Spring/Summer catalogue from Simply Be (I'm an impatient girl!). When I looked through the catalogue, there were many items I immediately put into my virtual shopping bag; I then took a hold of myself and stripped the bag back to the initial items that made my heart leap, and this dress was one of those items.

The cut and shape is 50s vintage inspired and the gorgeous print pays homage to the prints of old, I loved it and had to have it. It's also a great transitional dress from winter with tights and heels or flats, into Spring/Summer with bare legs and a cute pair of sandals. This is my second Joe Brown dress and they can both be worn all year round.

Tights: Boots

The other great thing about this dress is the shirred back, and in truth I could have sized down because of it. The shirred back works so well for those with a larger bust and there's ample stretch so you feel nothing but completely comfortable all day.

Spring is definitely in the air and this dress is a perfect celebration of this wonderful coming season - I look forward to wearing this on many more occasions :)

'til next time.

Swinging both ways!

I know some of you may think a dress is just a dress, but the thing I love so much about swing dresses is how incredibly versatile they are. You can literally change your look with as little as two items, from comfy to glam.

I thought I'd show you how I dress for everyday and how I dress for a special occasion using one dress. Of course I turn to my ever trusted Lady Vintage London. I bought this dress as a pre Christmas treat and has been in my wardrobe just begging to be worn. The dress is an eggshell colour with the most beautiful black printed flowers.
I first wore this for a normal day at work, and later went onto drinks with a few friends. I didn't want to be overly dressy so just paired it with a simple cardigan, tights, and a pair of cute flats. I think this looks great, it says effort but without being over the top. This would also work really well with ankle boots.
Cardigan: South (via Very)
Belt: Blogger Market
Tights: Boots
The second time I wore this dress was for the Anna Scholz event. I had all but abandoned my petticoats for the winter but couldn't think of a better occasion to dust one off for a cute rockabilly look. I also ditched the cardigan in favour of a shrug - two simple changes, but instant WOW factor! [Please excuse the indoor lighting]
Shrug: eBay
Petticoat: Hell Bunny (via Soho’s Clothing)
I'm definitely channeling Amanda of ‘Modern June Cleaver’ fame in this second look. I'm absolutely obsessed with her style, her Instagram (isn't she a doll?!) and the blog she co-posts with her best friend, Katie. She is all about corsets and all about petticoats so she was definitely my inspiration for this look.

Of the two, I'd definitely say the second look is my favourite. The first is pretty standard for me and is how I dress daily, and let's be honest, there's something quite special about a petticoat. You can't help but feel ├╝ber confident, and I felt like a pixie princess all evening.

So those are my two looks with one dress. You really can transform your look with a few simple changes!

'till next time.

Extract the Glory

One of the many things I love about my fellow psbloggers are their recommendations. I'm always on the lookout for new things to try to keep my skin looking healthy, and after the brutal winter I definitely felt like I needed an all over body cleanse. Enter the gorgeous Naomi.

Naomi tweeted about a body scrub she had tried and how it did absolute wonders, and this body scrub was Soap and Glorys' Pulp Friction. It sounded like the very thing I was looking for so thought I'd give it a try.
Just look at some of the ingredients: Fig powder, pumice, peppermint oil, lemonade tree liquid, orange waterjuice and (A, C & E) vitaminballs - I just knew this would do my skin the world of good and couldn't wait to try it! The scrub has little particles in it to really help you get rid of the residue normal soap doesn't, but it's lovely and foamy so doesn't feel rough at all (we've all tried those, right?! Where you literally feel like you're peeling away a layer of your skin), so it felt like a cleansing spa treatment in my own home!
I know it sounds ridiculous, but my skin felt so much better after rinsing. I felt like I had washed winter down the drain with my skin radiant, ready for warmer weather. The bonus was my skin felt great the morning after too, which wasn't something I was expecting from various experiences with other products of this nature.

So thank you lovely Naomi for recommending this fabulous scrub. It will be my regular "spa day" treatment from now on.

'til next time.
