I must first start off by admitting when I
heard about colour lip balm crayons, ‘PAH’ was my less than eloquent reaction.
I thought it was utter nonsense and couldn’t understand what the point was.
Despite seeing review after review giving this product the thumbs up, I stayed
nonplused and refused to buy into it.
Then, a couple of weeks ago during the tube
strike, I left my house extra early. I am a total bus girl and loath taking the
tube, but when a strike hits the buses are packed to the rafters, so leaving
early seemed like the perfect solution to avoid the crowds. I was right, but
found myself wandering the streets of Central London with nothing but time on
my hands. I inevitably found myself in a cosmetic store and the crayon lip balm
caught my eye. I looked over a few of the colours and took the plunge with Rimmel
‘On Fire’. I couldn’t wait to get it home and try it properly, and I’m happy to
say I was completely wrong! I subsequently bought a few more immediately after:
Rimmel: Colour Rush Blam Shade:
On Fire
Bourjois Paris:
Colour Boost Lip Crayon Shade: Red Island
Revlon: Colorburst Lacquer Balm Shade:
Vivacious
Max
Factor: Colour Elixir Lip Tint Pen Shade: Passionate Red
The first thing that surprised me about
these crayons was the ease of application. When I thought ‘crayon’, I of course
imagined the ones used as a child, and trying to keep within the lines of
whatever colouring book I was tackling; but all four are smooth and silky on
the lips (although the Max Factor one is a little drier than the others). The
colour itself can be as subtle or intense as you like and the hint of shimmer
gives instant glam. There was also no need to apply a thin layer of Vaseline as
I sometimes do with my regular lipsticks, the moisture of the crayons will leave
lips happy for most of the day.
So if you’re still on the fence, please
give these a try. I was the most stubborn mare, but I am fully on board now!
‘til next time!
Love and hugs,
Isha

Ps. I'd just like to say quickly that I'm loving the positive feedback on my beauty posts. Whether the emails are short or lengthy, it's wonderful to know you guys are enjoying the way I write. I was adamant when I started that I was not going to be a blogger who attempted to write a poor version of an article/ review you might find in one of those appalling teen magazines. Whether it be in beauty or outfit posts, I'm not going to fain gushing over a brand just to get free goods and/ or be featured on one of their various forms of social media.
Maybe I shoot myself in the foot with the amount of opportunities I turn down, but I'm not going to clone myself or my blog to anything or anyone, just to get ahead. I'm always going to be honest and I'm thrilled you guys are supportive of that.
Here's to many more!

You have lovely lips!! :) I'm not a big fan of lip crayons though. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you love! I like the crayons although they'll never replace my lipsticks. I need to stop buying lipsticks as I'm finding myself buying shades I already have :/ xx
