A jeans dress is not just for summer

My lovely friend Shel and I headed to London Zoo for some animal fun times. I haven’t been to the zoo in years, so I was so happy when Shel suggested we go before the changing seasons made it too cold to go. Sunday is the best weekend day to go because it’s so much less busy than usual, so you have time to hang around for longer and really admire the gorgeous colourful animals. My favourite part was visiting the cute penguins during their feeding time. The below picture were my other highlights :)

I had the best time and this was what I wore. I’ve never been one to exclusively wear an item of clothing depending on the time of year. I think most items can be worn throughout the year and this is a perfect example. I love this jeans dress and it had a fair few outings during the summer months. With it still being lovely and sunny at the moment, but with a slight chill in the air, throwing on this chunky cardigan and bowler hat made this the perfect autumn outfit.

Dress: Dani’s blog sale
Cardigan: Asos
Bowler Hat: H & M
Shoes and Belt: Primark
Bag and Snood: Dorothy Perkins
Tights: Boots

But let's face it, it's most fun acting like a goon:

I hope you're all well and enjoying the last day of the weekend - 'til next time!

When I did the 80’s Time Warp....in a 50's inspired dress

Hi guys,

So a few weeks ago my lovely friend Sian and I, headed to the V&A. Club to Catwalk is an 80’s exhibition dedicated to telling the story of how club fashion heavily influenced designers, and how they translated club style to the catwalk. Sian and I were in our element because we both love vintage and of course love fashion, so seeing the marriage between the street fashion of grunge/retro/punk, etc and high-end fashion, was awesome.

The only gripe I had was that the exhibition was way too short. I wanted to see more outfits, more textures, more video clips, more everything! The outfits were amazing though, but unfortunately you couldn’t take any pictures (another huge gripe of mine) so I can’t show you my favourites, but the tweed section was dreamy.

The courtyard is so gorgeous so we thought that would be the perfect place to take photos. Now, the dress. I wanted to go ΓΌber 80’s with disco pants and a trashy printed dress; I had the dress but couldn’t find the pants for love nor money. What I do have though, are some beautiful 50's vintage style dresses - this one is from Vivien of Holloway. This dress is so pretty and colourful, and I wanted to wear something that reflected my love of bold prints.

Dress & Belt: Vivien of Holloway
Cardigan: South (via Very)
Sandals: Dorothy Perkins
Sunglasses: Spitalfields Market

I've been leaving my hair naturally waving rather than using straighteners. I love it like this!

And for all those who complain I never smile in my photos – an outtake for you:

Hope you’re all well and enjoying the last day of the weekend. ‘til next time.

Some of the best things come from blog sales

This is possibly my favourite “new” dress at the moment. I bought this from the lovely Dani, when she had her blog sale a few months ago. There were many fab items I bought, but this is definitely the best of them.

I love the print, the cut, the length and material of this dress. It's only been worn twice so far, but will have regular outings throughout the autumn months. On this occasion, it was a gorgeous and sunny day, so wore some cute sandals, a light cardigan, and a pair of sunglasses to complete the look. Oh, and did you notice the lack of leggings?! ;)

Dress: eShakti (via Dani’s blog sale)
Cardigan: South (via Very)
Sandals: Dorothy Perkins
Belt: Primark
Sunglasses: Spitalfields Market

Close up of print :)

Now, I’m supposed to be going to the zoo today, but the weather doesn’t look good :/ We’ll see what the day brings….

Hope you’re all enjoying the last day of the weekend! ‘til next time.

Pink Polka Polka

Hi guys,

My love for a polka dot dress has reached embarrassing heights. I look in my wardrobe and there is a beautiful array of polka dot dresses from vintage to modern, and in a healthy choice of colours. This is one of my most recent purchases.

I had been avoiding ModCloth for the longest time because I knew as soon as I had a look at the website, I would want every single dress in sight. I was right! They do the kind of dresses I love: a vintage/ retro flair with a little nerd thrown in – I weep at the awesomeness of this site! I saw two dresses in particular and of course had to order them right away; one was this beauty. Of all the polka dotted dresses I own, a pink one was not among them, so finding this Hell Bunny dress, was a joy.

The fit is incredible around my waist. If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know that I find it so difficult to find dresses to fit my small waist, and usually have to use one of my trusted belts to do the job of finding where my waist is; I had no problem with this dress, which is why I was more than happy to just use the simple black tie belt that came with it. My boobs are a little up and out, but my snood (not pictured) came in handy whenever I felt I was being overly gawped.

A new revelation for me is going out bare legged. Like a lot of plus size women, I tend to wear leggings with almost every dress, but recently, I’ve been feeling good about my little chunky legs and have been happy to venture out while keeping my leggings at home – this was one of those occasions:

Dress: Hell Bunny (via ModCloth)
Cardigan: South (via Very)
Sunglasses: Spitialfields Market

Closeup of print. A lot of polka dots and a lot of boob!

I hope you’re all doing well and I’m really looking forward to reading all your blog posts about Plus North!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend – ‘til next time.

Granny print dresses are *the* best!

Hi guys,

I have talked at length about my love for granny prints, and this is another to add to the collection. I love this simple dress. It has sleeves, but I’m hardly ever without a cardigan and thought it looked better when breaking up the print a bit – hence an ever-present belt, also. I finished the look with my favourite flats and some sunnies.

I wore this for my Vintage day with my lovely friend, Sian and her best friend, Alanna. Going from Holloway to Shoreditch, we were pretty tuckered out by the end of the day, which may explain why we accidently stumbled upon a few cocktails….

Dress: Simply Be
Cardigan: Very
Leggings: South (via Very)
Belt & Shoes: Primark
Sunglasses: Spitalfields Market

Ironically, this was before the cocktails :/ But at least you get to see the print closeup

All the yums :)

Hope you’ve all had a great weekend!

‘til next time.

Love and hugs,
Isha Reid
