Wedding celebrations :D

Hi folks, just a quick one from me today.

Haven’t blogged in a little while, but last week was so manic. I literally had one night in, and that may sound like a good time to you youngens, but for me, it was too much. I’m also writing a lot more recently for my novel, so it wasn’t the best time to be busy and take a break from it. I’m hoping to go old school and get myself a typewriter. We’ll see…..

Anywhooooo, despite being extremely tired, I spent last week catching up with friends: dinners, drinks and lots of talking and lots laughs :) Most importantly though, I had to celebrate my dear friends nuptials.  My friend Nadia is one of the best people I have the pleasure to know, and I’m so proud of her and the woman she has become; and now she as found her life partner- I couldn’t be more happy!

Yesterday was the wedding reception and thought I’d share what I wore with you. The shoes were well killer as I’m not used to wearing heels (I’m a flats girl all the way!), but needs must and I couldn’t wear flats with this dress:

I love the sheer at the top- with pearls of course ;)

OUCH!!!

Everything bar the belt and bag (both Dorothy Perkins) are all from Simply Be.

Well, I'm off to do a bit of writing and then crawl into bed-

'Til next time :)

Date night

Just a quick one from me today.

So, me and my dear friend Rosie, went out on one of our date nights. We tend to do this quite often, but recently, we have each had our own crap to deal with and we haven’t had time to connect- until yesterday.

We went to Ultimate Burger, and it was sooo lush. I had a massive Bacon Cheese burger with large fries, a Strawberry milkshake (because they didn’t have Banana- booo), and a Fanta (to which a fly decided to float about in).

Mmmmmmmm...

We went for drinks afterwards and had a looong girly chat about everything that had been going on. I think/hope we both felt better after venting, and that’s what friends are for right?!

This is the dress I wore. I love this. It’s light, airy and the most gorgeous print ever. I love using a belt to nip in my waist (and have a belt as well as loads of other stuff on it’s way to me via online shopping :s ), so paired the dress with my fave belt. Kept everything else pretty simple because I didn’t want anything to detract from the dress.

Side note, I also now have a Tumblr. This show a deeper side of me and will consist of things that mean something to me, other than wearing cool clothes.

'Til next time folks

Plus size coffee morning/ Curve Social

Hi guys :)

Today has been a really good one. The lovely Sarah organised a coffee morning for fellow plus size bloggers, and it was very productive. There are so many things in the pipe line that are super exciting, and no doubt details will start to trickle out in the coming weeks. It was very pro togetherness. Segregation is such an easy thing to fall into, but we don’t need that in the plus size world. We already have to struggle and fight against everything else, we really shouldn’t be fighting with each-other too. Who has the most followers? Who gets invited to things? Who gets free stuff? These are not the issues we should be talking about. These are not the things we should be competing with each-other for.

I started my blog because I was tired of what was being fed to me in all parts of the media. I wanted to show that you can be plus size and still be sexy, still be fashionable, and still wear clothes that make you feel good. I wanted to express the scales falling from my eyes in a positive way, and hopefully help others (particularly people of colour) that there was an alternative.

I’m still new to the blogging world, but already I can see those whom do this purely for what they can get, while forgetting what this should all really be about- creating a community that is safe, supportive and encouraging.

I don’t pretend to be the ruler of all things moral, but as a newbie, that isn’t the type of plus size world I want to be involved in; and from the conversations of this morning, it’s not one anyone whom is doing this for the right reasons wants to be involved in.

I enjoyed myself and found it very insightful- I look forward to more of the same for sure.

Okkkkkk, rant over.

After the coffee morning, myself and the gorgeous Lauren (whom you all no doubt know), went for lunch in Soho and had our own meeting in regards to our group Curve Social. We have some great ideas and we can’t wait to tell you all about them….but if I may be so bold, please keep the end of October free for the first Curve Social event- it’ll be a screamer ;p

It was also just a lovely catch up with loads of talking, giggling and musings- perfect way to spend the afternoon. I love Lauren, and can’t wait to build our group together and make it something to make you all proud to be a part of.

I also asked Lauren, to take my picture for my blog, and she did a wonderful job too! I love this outfit and felt great from head to toe. The t-shirt is a new favourite of mine, it’s just full of cameras; not all of which I can name however, but it’s a fun game!
